History...

Marco Island is the largest of Florida's Ten Thousand Islands, located on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida.

History says nothing about Marco Island until 1870 when settlers appeared here, the W. T. Collier family at the North end of the Island, and the Barfields at the South end. The pioneer period began in earnest!

Clam factories, schools the Post Office and even a railroad came to Marco Island along with increasing population.
